Dr. David Sproson

I am a postdoctoral research fellow in the Institute for Climate and Atmospheric Science at the University of Leeds, working with Dr. Ian Brooks. My research focusses on the impact that sea-spray has on the exchange of heat, moisture and momentum between the ocean and atmosphere at high wind speeds, particularly those associated with Typhoons. I’m funded through the NERC ASIST (Air-Sea Interaction & Sea-spray in Typhoons) project, which is the Leeds contribution to the ITOP (Impact of Typhoons on the Ocean in the Pacific) research programme.

More generally I’m interested in air-sea(-ice) interactions, especially the response of the local and general ocean circulation to variations in, and representations of, high-latitude forcing.
